Description
This Ultimate Slow Cooker Christmas Crack Candy Recipe is a simple, customizable, and delicious treat perfect for the holidays. It’s great for gift-giving, parties, or cozy nights in.
Ingredients
- Mini Saltine Crackers
- Unsalted Butter
- Brown Sugar
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- White Chocolate Chips (optional)
- Optional Toppings: Crushed candy canes, chopped nuts, mini marshmallows, sprinkles, or festive edible glitter
- Cooking Spray
Instructions
- Spray the inside of the slow cooker with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Layer the mini saltine crackers at the bottom of the slow cooker, ensuring they cover the base completely.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until fully dissolved. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it bubble for about 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the crackers in the slow cooker. Use a spatula to spread it out if needed.
- Cover the slow cooker and set it to LOW. Let it cook for 1-2 hours, checking occasionally to ensure the caramel doesn’t burn.
- Once the caramel has thickened, sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top. Cover the slow cooker again and let the chocolate melt for about 5-10 minutes.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer using a spatula. Add white chocolate chips and swirl them into the semi-sweet chocolate for a marbled effect, if desired.
- Sprinkle your chosen toppings over the melted chocolate while it’s still warm.
- Transfer the candy onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread it out and let it cool completely. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to speed up the process.
- Once the candy has hardened, break it into pieces using your hands or a knife. Store in an airtight container or package it for gifting.
