Description
This savory Asian-style miso glazed cod recipe is elegant yet easy to make, with a rich, caramelized flavor that pairs perfectly with tender, flaky cod.
Ingredients
- 6 oz cod fillets, fresh or frozen, skinless and boneless
- 3 tablespoons white miso paste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup as a vegan alternative)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced or grated
- Green onions, sliced thinly (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds, toasted (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- In a small bowl, whisk together white miso paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic until smooth and slightly thick.
- Place the cod fillets on the prepared baking sheet and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Using a brush or spoon, generously coat the top of each fillet with the miso glaze, ensuring even coverage.
- Bake the cod in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the fish is opaque and easily flakes with a fork.
- For a caramelized finish, switch the oven to broil for the last 2 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
- Remove the cod from the oven and let it rest for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
[‘Pat the cod dry to help the glaze stick better and prevent a watery texture.’, ‘Switch the oven to broil for the last 2 minutes to create a caramelized finish.’, ‘Avoid overcooking the cod to prevent dryness; check for doneness by gently flaking the fish with a fork.’, ‘Use high-quality white miso paste for the best flavor.’, ‘Customize the glaze by adjusting the sweetness or saltiness to your taste.’]
