  • Author: Tessa
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This savory Asian-style miso glazed cod recipe is elegant yet easy to make, with a rich, caramelized flavor that pairs perfectly with tender, flaky cod.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz cod fillets, fresh or frozen, skinless and boneless
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup as a vegan alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or grated
  • Green onions, sliced thinly (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds, toasted (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together white miso paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic until smooth and slightly thick.
  3. Place the cod fillets on the prepared baking sheet and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  4. Using a brush or spoon, generously coat the top of each fillet with the miso glaze, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Bake the cod in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the fish is opaque and easily flakes with a fork.
  6. For a caramelized finish, switch the oven to broil for the last 2 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
  7. Remove the cod from the oven and let it rest for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

[‘Pat the cod dry to help the glaze stick better and prevent a watery texture.’, ‘Switch the oven to broil for the last 2 minutes to create a caramelized finish.’, ‘Avoid overcooking the cod to prevent dryness; check for doneness by gently flaking the fish with a fork.’, ‘Use high-quality white miso paste for the best flavor.’, ‘Customize the glaze by adjusting the sweetness or saltiness to your taste.’]
