  • Author: Tessa
  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Description

These easy New Year’s Eve cookies are not only delicious but also a joy to make, perfect for celebrating the New Year with family and friends. They are versatile and can be customized to suit any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (or any mix-ins you prefer)
  • ½ cup sprinkles
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon peppermint extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing!
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips (and optional peppermint extract if using) with a spatula until evenly distributed.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Sprinkle the tops of the cookies with festive sprinkles for that celebratory touch!
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked, but they’ll firm up as they cool.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can enhance flavor and texture. Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
