Comforting Creamy Spinach Dip Recipe for Christmas Parties

  • Author: Tessa
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A festive and delicious spinach dip baked in a golden, flaky puff pastry shaped like a Christmas tree. Perfect for holiday gatherings and sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 oz frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed to remove excess water
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed but still chilled
  • 1 egg, whisked with a splash of water for egg wash
  • Optional: Red bell pepper, cut into small pieces for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Thaw the frozen spinach and squeeze out as much water as possible.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine spinach, softened cream cheese, sour cream, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
  4. Lay out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and roll them out slightly to make them larger and more even.
  5. Place one puff pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet. Using a sharp knife, cut out a large triangle to form the base of the tree. Use the scraps to form branches or additional decorations if desired.
  6. Evenly spread the spinach dip over the triangle, leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Place the second puff pastry sheet on top of the spinach-covered triangle. Press down gently to seal the edges.
  8. Using a knife, slice horizontal lines on both sides of the triangle to create branches. Twist each branch slightly for a festive look.
  9. Add small pieces of red bell pepper to mimic ornaments or berries, if desired.
  10. Brush the entire pastry with the egg wash to ensure a golden, shiny finish.
  11. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy.
  12. Let the spinach dip Christmas tree cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

[‘Squeeze out all the liquid from the spinach to avoid a soggy dip.’, ‘Keep puff pastry chilled until ready to use for easier handling.’, ‘Watch the oven closely in the last few minutes to prevent burning.’, ‘Feel free to customize the flavors with nutmeg or red pepper flakes.’]
